GVM Makes and Models approved

Dr Tim's Auto Engineering offers GVM upgrades for a variety of makes and models, including Toyota Landcruiser, Ford Ranger/Mazda BT-50, Nissan Patrol Y62, and Chevrolet Silverado. The maximum increase in GVM varies by model and may require specific suspension and control arm changes. Dr Tim's also offers a 10% increase for certain models, including the Toyota Hilux, Prado, and Ford Ranger. It is important to consult with Dr Tim's for the best GVM outcome and to determine the correct upgrade path.

Toyota Landcruiser

  • 79 Series
    We do 10% upgrades to 3630kg from the factory 3300kg GVM. We also do 3900kg ratings for specific supplier kits. Contact us for more information about higher level upgrades.
  • 200 Series
    The 200 Series is a strong 4WD that achieves a 10% upgrade easily.

Prado

  • The Prado range can be limited by axle capacity so advice is needed to get the best result. Make contact with us for clarity.

Toyota Hilux

  • There is a wide range of Hilux vehicles in terms of year of manufacture, body style and driveline type so contact us with your details for the best GVM outcome and we will respond with advice and a positive direction for your project. Upgrades for Hilux vehicles up to 3500kg are available for post-2015 models so contact us for access to this level of increase.

Ford Ranger/Mazda BT-50

  • The Ford Ranger is a very popular vehicle and is well suited for a GVM upgrade and can achieve a 10% increase with appropriate springs and shocks. The Mazda BT-50 is an identical vehicle until the 2022 model. From 2022 the Mazda BT50 becomes a facelifted Isuzu DMax and the upgrade details are the same for those two vehicles from then. 3600kg is the maximum GVM available with the correct kit.

Isuzu DMax

  • The DMax range has varied in its GVM capability over time and needs consultation with Dr Tims to establish the correct GVM upgrade path.

Nissan Patrol Y62

  • The Y62 Patrol has a 180kg and 300kg optional GVM increase arising from the testing completed on these models.
  • The 180kg upgrade is essentially a spring and shock absorber change to achieve that result.
  • The 300kg upgrade requires spring, shock absorber and rear, lower control arm changes to correctly engineer the higher upgrade. This upgrade is performed by a specified installer in conjunction with Dr Tims.

Chevrolet Silverado

  • 1500
    We have assessed the braking capability and axle capacities of the Silverado 1500 in a joint venture with our nominated supplier to provide owners with a 10% upgrade GVM approval for these high performance vehicles with 3300kg standard GVM.
  • 2500
    We have also assessed the braking and axle capacities of the Silverado 2500 in joint venture with our nominated supplier to provide owners with a 10% upgrade GVM approval for these very capable vehicles. Its standard 4536kg GVM is one of the highest in the pickup category and upgrades to 4990kg.

Dodge Ram DT

  • The Dodge Ram DT series is another US sourced vehicle that has been tested and benefits from a 10% GVM upgrade to its standard 3450kg GVM.
